Metalogix Launches Selective Restore Manager Pro™

Metalogix this month launched Selective Restore Manager Pro™ (SRM Pro), the most flexible, intuitive and efficient software available for restoring content from native SharePoint backups without a recovery farm.
Microsoft SharePoint products are essential for document management and collaboration at many organizations and SharePoint is often critical to the business, yet SharePoint tools only support limited restore functions. The built-in tools that are inadequate for many common restore scenarios, such as item-level or site level restore requests.

Selective Restore Manager Pro offers SharePoint administrators three significant advantages that improves their backup and restore processes and saves time and money for their organizations:

  1. It makes SharePoint administrators more productive. You can respond to restore requests in minutes by migrating content using the common “cut and paste” format in a familiar user interface. For greater efficiency, you can run differential reports that show the delta between old and new content versions and focus on what’s needed.
  2. It makes organizations more efficient by reducing both capital and operating expenses. SRM Pro eliminates the hardware costs, software licenses and IT staff time required to build a temporary server farm. For greater savings, you can also avoid costly proprietary backup formats or expensive third-party backup solutions to restore granular items.
  3. It makes organizations more compliant by retaining the original metadata needed to show audit trails for demonstrating regulatory compliance. For greater confidence, it ensures ongoing Microsoft support by performing all restore operations through the supported SharePoint APIs. There are no un-supported, direct writes to any SharePoint database.

Meet SharePoint Carl

If you haven’t met SharePoint Carl, this is a good time to make his acquaintance and find out how he solves the kind of problems that challenge SharePoint admins every day. Carl’s six-part video diary on YouTube will show you how he tries to migrate from SharePoint 2003 to SharePoint 2007 while he learns on the job. For anyone in IT—especially SharePoint administrators—this will draw a chuckle.
