Metalogix Migration Manager for Blogs and Wikis

At this year’s Microsoft MVP Summit, Metalogix announced the availability of Metalogix Migration Manager for Blogs and Wikis. For those of you well versed in social media, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by some of the enhanced functionality available in SharePoint 2010. This includes the ability to tag, bookmark, and rate content. You can also use activity feeds to track activities and content associated with particular users.

Migration Manager for Blogs and Wikis allows you to quickly migrate content from a blog or a wiki to SharePoint 2010. It currently supports the following connections: Blogger, Confluence, Feed – Atom, Feed – RSS, MediaWiki, and other Blogs (e.g., WordPress). I decided to try out our new product on my own blog and thought I’d share my quick and easy experience.

In keeping with Metalogix principles, this application is extremely easy to download and try. Also, as you see in the screenshots below, the user interface is simple and intuitive.

The process for migrating blog or wiki content from one of the supported sources is just as simple as using any other Metalogix migration product—you just copy and paste into SharePoint 2010.

- Copying from one blog or wiki to another is as simple as copy and paste

But you don’t just have to copy and paste your content as-is. In Migration Manager for Blog and Wikis, you can specify settings to control how you want your data migrated over to SharePoint 2010.

- You can set preferences to specify what you would like to copy.

In the example image below, I have copied blog content from my Blogger site to a SharePoint 2010 blog.
