Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint Major Release Breaks Speed Barrier

Although the anecdotal evidence was pretty convincing, there is now plenty of empirical proof that the amount of content produced today is greater than ever before, and rate of creation is increasing. This mountain of information has to be stored somewhere and as shown in a joint ESG and Metalogix survey released this year, most of that content is going into Microsoft SharePoint.

Metalogix has been in the content migration business for a long time, so it was clear to us that something needed to change. Enterprises cannot settle for using the same old world tools when it’s so painfully clear that the SharePoint world is evolving. As the SharePoint platform gains responsibility for more and more, organizations have to be able to manage, migrate, and upgrade their SharePoint data quickly. Just as we did with Metalogix StoragePoint—which changed the rules for SharePoint storage by reducing content databases by up to 97%—we tasked our crack migration developers to change the game with Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0. The result is a new bar for migration and upgrade speed.

Look for more about SharePoint migration performance in our upcoming white paper co-authored by SharePoint MVP, and prolific globetrotter, Michael Noel. The white paper digs into some of the lessons we’ve learned about performance to discuss the most important SharePoint migration considerations. For example, testing the different options for connecting to SharePoint revealed that the slowest option can easily take over 20 times longer than the fastest option.

Whether you’re testing at the beginning of a migration project, or running an operation at the end of a SharePoint upgrade, time matters—speed matters. Performance affects your productivity and your experience. This is why speed has always been a business imperative and as the content explosion continues, speed is more important than ever.

In today’s press release, Metalogix announced the GA release of Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0. This is a major release and we’re extremely proud of the fact that Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0 includes record-breaking performance – migration speeds exceeding 500 GB per day – and full fidelity support for migrating Nintex workflows.

From today’s press release:

“Recent market analysis has declared SharePoint is the de facto standard for content management and Migration Manager for SharePoint is the #1 solution for SharePoint upgrades and migrations,” said Steven Murphy, CEO, Metalogix. “With the release of Migration Manager for SharePoint 5.0, we have broken through many industry barriers and produced the highest-performing, cost-effective solution that allows organizations to easily and quickly realize the tremendous value of SharePoint 2010.
