SharePoint Migration Manager for eRoom (SMM) has an eRoom specific feature that lets you check the potential length of an eRoom item after it has been migrated to SharePoint, this is the ability to Check SharePoint URL length.
This ability can only be run on an eRoom container (an eRoom room, or folder). This feature works by crawling the source side container, and assuming that a migration of this crawled content is successful. It then counts the characters in the potential URL, and returns the results in the log file. Any items that have a URL that is too long for SharePoint will be identified. These results will differ slightly depending on if the check was done for a site or a document library. In SharePoint the maximum URL length that can be entered in the User Interface (UI) for a site is 255 characters, while folder and document items (in a document library) have a maximum URL length of 128 characters.
In the eRoom Explorer view tree, select the container node (room or folder) that you want to run a SharePoint URL check on.
Right-click on the node, and select Check SharePoint URL Length > As Site. This will open the Check URL As Site dialog.
In the Check URL As Site dialog, set the target SharePoint location in the Location tree view window. You will only be able to target SharePoint sites. Then set the remaining options that you want to check the URLs for. These are all check-box options that are self-explanatory. If the Output CSV File option is checked, then after the check you will have the option to view the results in a CSV file.
After you have set all your options, click OK to run the URL check. The status dialog will be displayed, and you can click Details to view any details of the action. If the Output CSV File option was checked, then another dialog will be displayed upon completions, letting you view the results in a CSV file. Clicking Yes in this dialog will open the CSV in it's default program (which may vary depending on your system). The results can also be viewed from the Details section of the status dialog.
When finished click Close.
