Best Practices at the SharePoint 2016 & Office 365 Roadshow in Cologne
Taking place in three different locations in the DACH region this year (Cologne, Munich and Zurich), the German-speaking part of the Metalogix SharePoint 2016 & Office 365 Roadshow began last Wednesday, May 11th in Cologne at a popular Microsoft office directly on the idyllic Rheinau Harbour.
Just as with the Cologne Roadshow 2015, we quickly realized that the local Rheinlanders aren’t just all about celebrating their carnival; they’re also real SharePoint and Office 365 pros. The region’s famed open-minded mentality meant that the event was a casual affair that promoted discussion.
The experts on site were challenged with concrete, practice-oriented questions, new ideas were developed together, and countless practical examples were discussed and analyzed. During the course of the day, the speaker often gave participants the chance to speak about their own current challenges and find a solution for their own organizations with the help of the experts.
Metalogix SharePoint expert Gary Hughes, who gave participants plenty of tips for migrating to SharePoint 2016, even got participants up to the speaker area to act as ‘co-presenters’ to steer the conversation in a direction interesting for the participants. After some initial hesitation, the ‘hot seat’ model took on a life of its own and led to lively discussions.
The topics of the day included both today’s and tomorrow’s workplace challenges relating to the new features in Office 365 and why and/or how organizations should always keep their finger on the pulse. Asaf Matyas, Business Architect at our partner HanseVision, spoke about the ‘war of talents’ and the new ‘world of multi-tasking’ that every company has to deal with. Patrick Lamber, Office 365 MVP, gave participants valuable tips and information about new collaborative features and how to best benefit from the new world of mobile and cloud-based workplaces. Malte Schoch, E-Mail & File Archiving Expert at Metalogix, then gave the audience tips for the optimal, secure archiving of critical business data.
Of course, there was also a competition at the end of the event. Stefan Hoffmann was selected from all participants to take home the brand new Surface Pro 4. Congratulations!
