A Customer Success Story: How Simple Isn't Better
Global consulting services organization, COWI, turned to Metalogix for their 10TB migration. The company uses SharePoint as a business-critical collaboration solution for over 6,000 employees across 101 locations. With more than 17,000 projects hosted in SharePoint supporting their engineering, economics, and environmental science practices, the migration was anything but simple.
“Metalogix was the only solution that allowed COWI to have a clean migration, handling all the customization and transferring them into the new site with all new functionality. There are simple solutions on the market, Metalogix has the professional grade solutions,” said Henrik Nordtorp, Principal Architect at ProActive.
How would COWI migrate from SharePoint 2007 to 2013, while ensuring business continuity and minimum downtime? This was no small task, COWI had 10TB of content with 11,000 of its 55,000 sites live and changing weekly. Not only did COWI require a seamless migration, but they also had to ensure the functionality of 180 customized components in SharePoint 2013. The functionality requirement was vital for COWI to implement a future cloud migration.
COWI turned to its IT consulting partner and Microsoft Gold Partner, ProActive. ProActive recommended Metalogix’s Content Matrix solution. Why Content Matrix? The solution helps organizations migrate SharePoint by site collection, site, list, library, business unit, or department with zero downtime and in a single hop between any SharePoint version and cloud platforms. The flexibility and extensible nature of Content Matrix was a significant differentiator for COWI. For example, its PowerShell scripting capabilities enabled the integration of code or fixes – a critical feature given the highly customized nature of the existing environment.
“Thanks to Content Matrix and to the migration to SharePoint 2013, we can now focus more of our time helping the business, which is something we hope to do even more as the 2013 platform stabilizes,” said Jesper Lauridsen, Senior IT Solutions Architect.
