As the amount of data used in daily operations steadily increased, without data being deleted from the server after use or expiry of the retention period, it not only became less clear how much data was stored, but the data processing performance was significantly burdened as well.
Efficient digital collaboration became increasingly difficult, and regular backups and data recovery were sluggish.
With StoragePoint, we were able to significantly reduce the size of the SharePoint databases, restoring them to a high-performance and supportable condition.
Migros’ IT team came across Metalogix StoragePoint when searching for a fitting solution to optimize company-wide collaboration clarity and perfor-mance. “As Metalogix is a well-known player in the SharePoint scene, we took a closer look at StoragePoint,” explains Marc Hunziker, IT Systems Engineer at Migros. Metalogix organized various live demonstrations that managed to convince Migros of the solution’s use.
“With StoragePoint, we could significantly reduce the size of the SharePoint databases, restoring them to a high-performance and supportable condition,” elucidates Marc Hunziker. “The storage space necessary on the SQL server was cut by half thanks to the solution.”

“We managed to improve the performance of our SharePoint database with StoragePoint and, additionally, brought our in-creasingly large database up to speed,” continues Josef Stark, a fellow IT Systems Engineer at Migros. “The solution was quickly and easily integrated into the existing environment and its configuration. Moreover, the tool is very intuitive and does not re-quire modifications during normal daily operation.”
Users do not notice any difference during collaboration, as data is seamlessly accessed independent of its location in the company. The only difference users notice is the perfor-mance increase.
